Know More About Mike Tyson
One of the best heavyweight boxers of all time is said to be Tyson. The first heavyweight boxer to hold all three of those titles at once, as well as the only one to do it consecutively.
Tyson was found guilty of rape in 1992 and given a six-year jail term; however, he was freed on parole after three years. He fought in a number of comeback matches following his 1995 release, winning back the WBA and WBC belts in 1996.
He was disqualified in 1997 for biting Holyfield’s ears; one bite was powerful enough to take a piece of Holyfield’s right ear off. Lennox Lewis defeated Tyson in a knockout match for the world heavyweight championship in 2002.
Mike Tyson, a member of the Boxing Hall of Fame, was well-known for both his contentious behavior inside and outside the ring as well as his vicious and terrifying boxing style. He came in at number 16 on The Ring magazine’s ranking of the 100 best punchers of all time with an 88% knockout-to-win ratio.
According to Sky Sports, he was “perhaps the most savage fighter to enter a professional ring.” He has been admitted to both the World Boxing Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Early life
On June 30, 1966, a Catholic family welcomed Michael Gerard Tyson into the world in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York City. On his birth certificate, “Purcell Tyson,” a “humble taxi driver” (who was from Jamaica), is identified as Tyson’s biological father. Jimmy Kirkpatrick traveled to Brooklyn after separating from his family and there he met Lorna Mae (Smith) Tyson, Tyson’s mother.
When Tyson was 10 years old, his family had to relocate to Brownsville due to financial difficulties. Prior to that, he had resided in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Throughout his upbringing, Tyson lived in and around areas with a high crime rate.
Tyson was frequently caught committing minor offenses and battling people who made fun of his lisp and high-pitched voice. He had 38 arrests under his belt by the time he was 13 and wound himself at the Tryon School for Boys. Bobby Stewart, a youth detention facility counselor and former boxer, found Tyson’s developing boxing skills there.
Personal Life
In addition to his biological children, Mike Tyson also counts his second wife’s eldest daughter as one of his own. Tyson has been married three times and has seven children—one of whom has passed away—with three different women. His first marriage to actress Robin Givens lasted from February 7, 1988, through February 14, 1989.
Although Tyson acknowledged that he delivered the blow that caused their divorce, he insisted that it was the “greatest punch I’ve ever thrown.” At the La Bella Wedding Chapel at the Las Vegas Hilton, Tyson married his longtime partner Lakiha “Kiki” Spicer, 32, for the third time in a brief, private ceremony. Ramsey, a non-binary child, and Amir, a son, are the couple’s two offspring.
Exodus, Tyson’s four-year-old daughter, was found in 2009 by her brothers hanging from a treadmill when she was asleep and entangled in a cord. She passed away from her wounds on May 26, 2009.
