Li Wenliang Biography
Li Wenliang was a Chinese ophthalmologist born on 12th October 1986 in Manchu Family in Beizhen Liaoning. He completed his schooling from Beizhen High School and graduated with excellent academic performance. He worked as a Physician at Wuhan Central Hospital. Li warned his colleagues in December 2019 about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome later named as COVID-19.\
Li Wenliang Career
After his graduation in 2011, Li worked for three years at the Xiamen Eye Center of Xiamen University. A former intern at Xiamen said that Li was so good to his patients even they failed to hear or understand what he said and he never showed any dissatisfaction to them.
He was once scolded by his director and his colleagues describe him as an ordinary person who would feel distressed when sorting out piles of medical records. Also, he was once cheated when buying Apple products. In the year 2014 Li joined as an ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital in Wuhan China.
Li Wenliang became a whistleblower when his warnings were later shared publicly. On January 3rd, 2020 he was arrested by Wuhan police for “making false comments on the internet”. Li came back to work, later on, January 2020, the contracted the virus from an infected patient who had been originally treated for glaucoma and died from the disease. The death of a doctor Li Wenliang was silenced by the police as he was one of the first to warn about the coronavirus. However, social media has set off grief and anger for not listening to his warning about the Coronavirus outbreak.
Li Wenliang Personal Life
Li was married and his wife’s name is ‘Fu Xuejie’ and the couple had one son. When Li noticed the symptoms of coronavirus illness, he left home and booked a hotel room to avoid the possibility of infecting his family. On 12th before being hospitalized despite this precaution his parents were infected with SARS-CoV-2 and later recovered.
On February 5th Li’s condition became critical. According to a colleague on 6th February Li was on a call with a friend and said that he was having trouble breathing and his Oxygen Saturation had dropped to 85%. Around 7 in the evening he was shifted to hospital and died at 8:30 pm on 6th February 2020.
