Early Life

Kane Allen Brown was born on October 21, 1993, in a remote area between northwest Georgia and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Because his single mother raised him, he had a challenging upbringing. His family regularly relocated from one location to another, and he was occasionally homeless. They eventually made their home in Red Bank, Tennessee.

He attended many schools during his life. While attending Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, he sang with his buddy Lauren Alaina, who went on to finish second on American Idol season 10.

He was raised on R&B and country music and initially preferred the latter. However, he changed to country music after performing Chris Young’s “Gettin’ You Home” to win a competition in the 11th grade.

Following auditions for both “American Idol” and “X-Factor” in 2013, Kane Brown was selected for the latter.

When the show’s producer suggested putting him in a boy band, he opted to leave because he wanted to pursue a solo career.

He began publishing his versions of hit tracks online after leaving ‘X-Factor.’ He quickly gained a sizable fan base on the internet.

His videos featured versions of songs by Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, and Lee Brice, among others.

His rendition of George Strait’s “Check Yes or No” went viral, and his online fame skyrocketed. His movies accumulated millions of views over time.

Encouraged by the response, he released a preview of his original tune ‘Used to Love You Sober,’ which was originally accessible on his Facebook page.

It earned a million views within the first three hours of uploading and eleven million views during the next two weeks.

He took the next step after becoming an internet music star by releasing his debut EP, named ‘Closer,’ on June 2, 2015.

He used the funds he raised through the crowd-funding website ‘Kickstarter’ to make the six-song EP.

It debuted at number 22 on the Top Country Albums chart, selling 3,200 copies in its first week. On the Country Digital Songs list, the song “Don’t Go City on Me” peaked at number 43.

In the months that followed, he recorded several well-known songs, with ‘Used to Love You Sober’ being the most well-known.

This song was released on his birthday, October 21, 2015. It peaked at No. 2 on the Country Digital Songs list. Within two days of its release, the song sold over 38,000 copies! ‘Last Minute Late Night’ and ‘I Love That I Hate You ‘were two more singles he released during this period.

For him, 2016 was a very fruitful year. In March, he published his EP ‘Chapter 1,’ and in December, he released his debut full-length album. The album achieved great popularity and received a platinum certification in the US.
