Don Shula Early Life
Donald Francis Shula was born on January 4th, 1930, at Grand River Ohio. His parents were Daniel Shula and Maria Miller they were from Hungarian origin, and they immigrated when they were kids.

His dad worked in a rose nursery and lived in a house next to Mary’s parent’s house. Don Shula started playing football at a very young age and later was forbidden to play this game at the age of 11 as he hurt his face.

He had six siblings which including triplets. His father found a job in a local fish shop. Shula did his schooling in St. Mary School and later attended Harvey High school.

Don Shula in 1951 got a job for coaching football in Canton Lincoln high school for $3750 dollars
He played 12 games in 1951. His coaching career started after his playing career ended in 1958, he started coaching at the University of Virginia.

After one season he coached for the University of Kentucky in 1959, under a head coach Blanton Collier. After one season from Kentucky, he got a job NFL in 1960.
Don Shula Personal Life
Don Shula married Dorthy Bartish who was Painesville Native. They married on July 19, 1958.
They had five children Dave Shula (b. May 28, 1959), Donna (b. April 28, 1961), Sharon (b. June 30, 1962), Anne (b. May 7, 1964), and Mike Shula (b. June 3, 1965).
Dorthy later died out of breast cancer on February 25, 1991. Later that year Don Shula found a Don Shula research for breast cancer.
He later married Mary Anne Stephens on October 16, 1993.

Don Shula died on May 4, 2020. The cause of death is not known yet. However, the official information says that the cause of death is related to Coronavirus Pandemic. Don Shula coached the NFL for 33 years. He died at the age of 90.
